End Of Year Show

Last night was the end of year show at college, it was a great experience to showcase my work in a public space and to see all the weeks of hard work and planning come to fruition. Peoples generous comments about my work made me feel really positive towards my products and more confident about my future business. Below are some pictures from the night.

Ta dah!

Below are the photographs of my updated chairs. After researching what was trending for Summer 2012, I decided to develop my chairs with a Palm Springs vibe. Palm trees, flamingos and exotic flowers have been seen in both homewares and fashion designs for this season. I designed fabric that was inspired by this Californian theme with palm prints and a colour palette of watery turquoises and blues, sunny yellows, hot pinks and lush greens. I used my new fabric designs to re-upholster the vintage chairs. I also painted the dark wood chairs white and light green to compliment the new fabric.

I set out to breathe new life into old furniture and make 'on-trend,' stylish, bespoke chairs, I am happy with the results so far but hope that this is just the beginning.......

Take a deep breath and type.....

"Just type anything!" I've been telling myself this for a week since I set up this blog but the pressure of an empty blog for a first time blogger is daunting. I've been plagued by the thought that whatever I write now could potentially come back to haunt me one day if someone happened to google my name, however I realise that being so precious about my blog is ridiculous as it seems unlikely that I will marry a minor royal or go into politics or be famous in any way so even a rambling account of rum fuelled antics, excessive shoe buying or my topical views on Coronation Street story lines couldn't bring down the Windsors or result in my resignation being demanded by my constituency! With these reassurring thoughts in mind I'll take a deep breath and type.....

I want this blog to be about my goal to start a vintage homewares company.

My company ethos is to breathe new life into beautiful, vintage furniture and homewares and create contemporary, bespoke pieces that are stylish, functional and sustainable.

Below are some 'before' pictures of chairs that I am excited about working on.

I hope that the 'after' photographs will follow sooner rather than later...........let the work begin.
